A Simple Camp-Stove Dinner for Beginners

One-pot comfort food with a short ingredient list and an easy cleanup plan.

Warm evening light in a forest camping setting

A one-pot pasta is forgiving, filling, and easy to scale. Prepare chopped vegetables at home, pack ingredients in sealed containers, and keep raw and ready-to-eat foods separated.

At camp

Use your stove only where permitted and on a stable surface. Simmer pasta with vegetables and enough water to cook, then stir in a shelf-stable sauce or seasoning at the end.

Clean up

Let cookware cool, strain food scraps into your trash, and follow the site's instructions for wastewater. Never leave food or cooking gear unattended around wildlife.
